Designed by renowned architect and Seaside Prize recipient Walter Chatham, Seaside's historic Forsythe House integrates both modern and industrial elements, combined with unique artistic touches created by the original owners Bill and Mary Florence Forsythe as well as other local artists. The Forsythe House was the first townhome built in Ruskin Place Artists Colony – Seaside’s enclave of artists workshops, galleries and residences located immediately north of Seaside Central Square.
Much like the shops of Ruskin Place, Forsythe House offers a little variety for everyone. Enjoy spectacular sunsets from the spacious rooftop terrace boasting one of the best vantage points in Seaside. With a covered sitting area and sunrise chairs to the east, and a rooftop dining table and sunset chairs to the west, you’ll have many options to take in the 360 degree views of the Gulf, rooftop towers and surrounding Seaside community.
Ruskin Park is an outdoor extension of your downstairs living area to the front of the home, and the private outdoor courtyard to the back is a great spot for enjoying lunch and dinner. The chef in the family will enjoy preparing meals in the open two story kitchen which includes a Traulsen refrigerator, Garland gas stove, concrete countertops, Breville appliances, Calphalon cookware, sous vide cooker and even a paella pan for those who want to take advantage of the local seafood. While dining, enjoy the music ambiance provided by the Voksun turntable and house collection of vintage jazz, blues and rock LPs.
Stairs seem to suspend from the walls with open steps and cable rails as you ascend to the upper floor bedrooms and roof deck. The 2nd level includes a master king bedroom and fully remodeled hall bath (2022), with double French doors opening to a balcony which overlooks Ruskin Park and its performance stage. The 3rd level includes another king bedroom, a guest bedroom with two double beds and fully remodeled shared hall bath completed Spring of 2022.
Through the years, the Forsythe House has been featured in a variety of architectural publications and is sure to be a one-of-a-kind vacation for family and friends.
